@danslerush I'm not sure if u can answer this, or anyone else, but how is this different from something like a cb radio?
Is it that it's not only audio but also text and GPS?
Is the range similar? Does it require line of site #askfedi #meshtastic

@lps @danslerush CB radio requires a license. This unlicensed
Mesh is also text only, not audio.
@jerome @lps @danslerush CB radio does not require a license to operate. the main difference is CB uses more power, is audio only, and can have longer range than LoRa, but it is more susceptible to interference and atmospheric conditions than lora

CB is HF - ~27MHz - so think "unlicensed ham radio". Google tells me we're not allowed to run data over it, I assume because, with your signal spread out over the entire band, all the audio channels (and yes, they are channels) would hear occasional whine or hiss.
Unlike the 900MHz band which was allocated for spread spectrum.
If you need more power, get a ham license, but then you can only be on the public channel ? Or use LongSlow ?
