@technomancy induction hobs are 20+ years on the go? I definitely first used one before I had kids, and it wasn't brand new when I used it

But it does heat a pot of water up an order of magnitude faster than gas

@technomancy I don't think I've ever been excited about computers themselves in my lifetime (I'm 27). I can think of one thing that would excite me: if we could liberate phone manufacturing from OEMs. I consider it one of the worst arbitrary technical restrictions of the past two decades: having these insanely powerful and small devices but that are incredibly restrictive (and thus prevent productive use). To top it off, they are made to go obsolete within a minuscule amount of time. The waste produced by phones is disgusting and they don't have to be this way whatsoever.

Or, another thing that would excite me: unrestricted GPUs. Instead of GPUs being these black boxes that only like 3 companies in the world have complete unfettered access to.

@zyd yep, I am certain that the only reason I can remember being excited about computers is that I'm over a decade older

first time I saw a mouse that had a scroll wheel in it and it blew my teenage mind; like ... what do you MEAN I don't have to click way over on the side to scroll down; this is life changing

@ColmDonoghue well admittedly this is the first time I've ever actually shopped for this kind of thing, but I first heard about induction cooking some time in the past 4 years

I guess the future is not evenly distributed
