@modulux I'm a terrible person, but there are alternatives to cron. The particularly controversial systemd, for example, has timers. For all the systemd hate, it does solve quite a few "Unix quirks" correctly.

And I'm pretty sure there are other nice alternatives. (I'm actually using GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and other odd overkill stuff for many things.)

@yo Sure, I don't particularly mind systemd, I just haven't learned how to use it yet. The advantage with cron is that I already know how to use it, except when it turns out I don't, hehe.

I'm completely put off by containers and all that devops stuff. I might be forced to learn it one day, but not today.
